Purchasing Precious Metals provides different options for your objectives. From Basic Preservation to Investment below.
Bullion Investment or Preservation: Preservation of Capital with some gains depending on the price of the precious metals you purchase. Options---Bullion coins, Bars, 90 % Silver Scrap, Sterling Silver etc.
Uncirculated Coins in raw state. Ungraded and kept in Uncirculated condition. Better gains.
Proof Coins in raw state and preserved in Proof State. No hands touching, fingerprints on coins etc. A step Higher
Graded Coins: Tops---PCGS, NGC one step back then ANACS and IGC in that order.
Grading Qualities----Older Coins were not in perfect conditions so a high rated PR PROOF COIN may only be PF 66. Todays Modern Minted coins reach the top level of PF 70. Mint State ( MS 70 ) is an Uncirculated Coin but not Proof
Different Slab holders---PCGS has different slabs holding the coins as well as NGC and the others. PCGS First Strike, NGC Early Releases and non label with the both mentioned only as the graded coin but not recieving the first month release by the mint. ANACS and ICG most likely have seperate type labels. Each different slab will have a diferent population report individually which may affect the demand for a price value.
